My client is a OEM of specialist equipment which is utilised throughout the manufacturing industry. As part of a planned expansion the company is looking for a FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER ti be based in the SOUTH MIDLANDS who will cover the UK and, on occasion, Europe and the rest of the world.
The role is to be part of a small time carrying out service, installation and commissioning work for the company. There is a wide variety of duties in this role, which will range from small scale servicing of simple machines to the installation and commissioning of in line PLC controlled equipment for major manufacturers of precision engineered components in the automotive and aerospace industries. Now two days are the same.
The company is looking for engineers with an excellent understanding of single phase and three phase electrical systems, knowledge of motors (ideally compressors), mechanical service and repairs. The company is really keen to see applications form engineers with good working knowledge of pneumatic systems, PLC controlled machinery, machine tools and specialist machinery.
The role requires a great deal of flexibility. Although there is no call out, on average you will be away from home for three nights a week which may include overseas deployments e.g earlier this year an engineer was deployed for two weeks to commission equipment in Botswana. Please be aware if this when applying for the role.
So to be considered you need to demonstrate:
- A recognised qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering
- A good understanding of single and three phase electrical systems
- Ideally some experience with special purpose industrial machinery
- A flexible attitude to working patterns and the ability to work away from home as described
- A full UK drivers licence with no more than three penalty points
Ideally the company is also looking for knowledge of pneumatic systems, PLC controlled systems or refrigeration.
